Lexington-Style Barbecue
October 25, 2025
The Lexington Barbecue Festival is an annual one-day festival held in Lexington, North Carolina, celebrating its unique style of barbecue, Lexington-style, which is a distinctive pork shoulder slow-cooked and dressed in a tangy red vinegar-based sauce. The festival draws hundreds of thousands of people each October to experience the food, along with live music, arts and crafts vendors, and other entertainment.
The Lexington Barbecue Festival was first held on October 27, 1984. The festival drew 30,000 visitors who consumed 3,000 pounds of barbecue, and it has since grown into one of the largest food festivals in the United States, attracting hundreds of thousands of people each year.
