The History of Lexington, NC

Lexington was settled in 1775, named in honor of the revolutionary war battle in Massachusetts, and incorporated in 1828. It is the county seat of Davidson County, named for Revolutionary War General William Lee Davidson. Most of this area was settled by people of German descent.

Their heritage can be seen in the intricate artistic design of churches and gravestones.
